Project Description

This project comprises the installation of two (2) truck height sensors to be designed and constructed at the outbound lanes of the NIT South Police Canopy. The sensors will measure trucks leaving NIT and report their height on a digital display. The project also includes an informational sign, visible to the drivers, which outlines the height restrictions on local roadways, therefore allowing the driver to make an informed decision regarding which route to travel. These measures are intended to alleviate traffic congestion at the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel caused by over-height trucks being turned around.

Estimated Construction Cost: $57,669
