Project Description

The project calls for the installation of approximately 11,000 feet of track, ties and ballast, several switches, heavy-duty pavement in the rail yard area, site civil utility work and electrical work. When complete, this project will provide a centralized rail yard for NIT and significantly increase rail capacity at the terminal.

Current Estimated Construction Cost: $16,476,450

Current Status

Earthwork operations are continuing on the eastern side of the project site. Utility work is nearing completion. Work on the last road and rail area adjacent to Fifth Street has begun. RCC pavement operations are complete, concrete pavement placement is 90% complete, and the crossing of Railroad Avenue with the new rail spurs has begun. Overall project is 80% complete.
