Project Description
This project will enhance the gate/interchange process at Norfolk International Terminals by automating new and existing infrastructure components allowing the terminal to address safety concerns while improving productivity, reducing queue times and adding capacity to the existing terminal processes for future increase in demand. The following projects are curently underway:
- NIT Transfer Zone Improvements. Installation of interactive driver kiosks for each truck stall of the North and South Transfer Zones.
- NIT Interchange Improvements. Reconfiguration of the Main Gate Interchange to support automated and remote driver check-in and check-out processing.
- CBP and Interchange Improvements. Constructs outbound truck corridor with CBP screening facilities and constructs and additional inbound lane at the interchange.
- Customer Service Relocation. Constructs a new driver service facility.
- M&R Facility Relocation. Constructs a new maintenance and roadability facility.
- OCR Portal Improvements. Upgrades to OCR portals to support gate automation processes.
