Environmental Assessment
The Virginia Port Authority, in consultation with the Virginia Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration, has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Commonwealth Mainline Safety Relocation Project (CRMSRP) in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act.
The CRMSRP EA identifies the purpose and need for the project, possible alternatives to the project, and the potential environmental impacts from implementation of the project or alternatives. The 30 day public notification/comment period for the EA began on March 11, 2007 and ended April 10, 2007.
No substantive public comment was received on the project, and a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) was issued in May 2007. All required permits have also been received.
